I have used Adobe lllustrator CS3 in my workplace for a few years now and for both the Apple Mac and PC users, the tip below is really quite applicable to both platforms.
It was until recently after much research on Google and exchanging ideas with fellow designers that I stumbled upon how to perfectly create a divided circle or pie into equal parts. Believe it or not, this Adobe Illustrator CS3 tip is really is quite simple! I look forward to your feedback.
Skill level: Basic to Intermediate.

STEP 1 Select the Pie Graph Tool.
Hover your mouse over the Column Graph Tool, click once with your mouse, holding it down. You will see a fly out menu. Select the Pie Graph Tool.
STEP 2 Type in your Measurements
Click once on the Artboard. The Pie Chart Tool pane appears. Type in the measurements of your circle.
STEP 3 Graph Data Window
Graph Data Window appears.Enter data for the graph in the Graph Data window.
STEP 4 Enter Data
Enter data for the graph in the Graph Data window. Enter '1.0' value in the cells on top horizontal row for one equal wedge in your circle. If you enter seven '1.0' in those cells, you will reap a circle with seven parts. Click the Apply button to view your circle. Close your Graph Data Window.
By arranging your values vertically, you will get a very different result. For those who are curious, give it a go and have fun discovering the varied options you can have by entering different values!
STEP 5 Almost There!
Here we are - a perfectly divided 7 equal part circle. Simple, no fuss. You might want to consider putting colours in into the segments, if so follow the next few steps.
STEP 6 Direct Selection Tool
Click on the Direct Selection Tool. This tool will pick the segments directly without selecting the whole pie chart.
STEP 7 Colour It!
With your Swatch Panel open, select the colour you wish to use. That's all there is to it!
